Hebohnya, titik awal bencana ini justru dipicu oleh niat seorang anak yang sedang asyik main korek api. Ya, awalnya si bocah hanya ingin membakar sampah sekaligus mengusir sarang tawon yang mengganggu. Sayangnya, niat tersebut justru berbalik menjadi petaka. Melihat situasi gawat ini, Kepala Damkarmat Nganjuk, Imam Ashari, langsung mengonfirmasi bahwa laporan pertama masuk pada pukul 20.35 WIB. Selanjutnya, tim petugas pun langsung bergerak cepat dan tiba di lokasi hanya dalam waktu 15 menit.
“Gudang kayu yang terbakar,” tegas Imam Ashari dengan nada prihatin pada Sabtu (31/1). Lebih lanjut, gudang yang jadi korban tersebut ternyata milik Mohamad Kholis (58), seorang warga setempat. Namun, di tengah musibah besar ini, kita patut bersyukur karena tidak ada korban jiwa yang berjatuhan. Di sisi lain, Komandan Regu Pos Bantu Damkar Tanjunganom, Dedy, segera memberikan penjelasan detail. Ia menegaskan bahwa hasil pendataan awal jelas menunjukkan pemicu utamanya, yaitu aktivitas pembakaran sampah oleh bocah tadi.
“Iya, betul,” ujar Dedy mantap saat kami mengonfirmasi penyebab kebakaran tersebut. Selain itu, ia juga mengungkap bahwa proses pemadaman memakan waktu sangat lama. Ternyata, material kayu yang terbakar menyimpan bara api yang sangat bandel di bagian bawah tumpukannya. “Kita terpaksa bongkar kayunya satu per satu, soalnya ada bara api tersembunyi di bagian bawah. Lalu, kita cek berulang kali untuk memastikan tidak ada lagi titik api yang tersisa. Maklum, benda yang terbakar kan seluruhnya kayu,” papar Dedy.
Lalu, bagaimana kronologi kejadian malam itu? Jadi, insiden ini bermula saat pemilik gudang, Mohamad Kholis, sedang asyik berkumpul santai bersama keluarganya. Tiba-tiba, ia dikejutkan oleh kepulan asap tebal di sekitar rumahnya. Spontan, Kholis langsung berlari keluar untuk mencari sumber asap misterius itu. Alangkah kagetnya ia ketika mendapati gudang kayu miliknya sendiri sudah berkobar hebat! Tanpa buang waktu, ia pun segera berteriak minta tolong.
Pada saat yang genting itu, Kholis bersama para tetangga langsung bergerak cepat. Mereka bahu-membahu mencoba memadamkan api dengan peralatan seadanya. Setelah itu, melihat api tak kunjung padam, salah seorang warga segera menghubungi Bhabinkamtibmas Desa Kelutan. Selanjutnya, laporan itu pun langsung diteruskan ke Pos Bantu Damkar Tanjunganom untuk meminta bantuan profesional.
Akhirnya, Personel Siaga 1 Pos Bantu Damkar Tanjunganom berhasil tiba di lokasi sekitar pukul 20.50 WIB. Begitu tiba, mereka langsung turun tangan dan berjuang mati-matian melawan si jago merah. Perjuangan sengit mereka akhirnya membuahkan hasil setelah api berhasil mereka padamkan sepenuhnya sekitar pukul 00.00 WIB. Meski begitu, kerugian materiil yang diderita sudah tidak terhindarkan lagi.
Sebagai akibat dari kebakaran besar ini, kerugian materiil mencapai puluhan juta rupiah. “Kerugian materi kurang lebih Rp 20 juta,” tutur Dedy menutup penjelasannya. Kisah ini menjadi pengingat keras bagi kita semua tentang bahaya bermain api. Aksi iseng sesaat jelas dapat berujung pada kerugian yang sangat besar. Oleh karena itu, pengawasan terhadap aktivitas anak-anak, terutama dengan benda berbahaya seperti korek api, mutlak harus kita tingkatkan.
